Where style lives but not where it comes from.

Ok. Fine. FINE. Assholes.

Some of my comments were a tad hasty.

Some of this stuff is pretty cute. I had some of my crazy ninjas arm themselves with smoke grenades, shurikens, and iphones and assault the Topshop stronghold. Needless to say their findings were shocking.

First, we have some cute short/suit things. I think these will be big for Spring/Summer. My prophecy that we will soon be dressing like turn-of-the-century children is coming to fruition.

There are some damn cute blazers. I love plaid like Urkel and Borland’s love child.

There were also some nice suiting. I’m a big fan of contrast piping and facing.

It is obvious men’s suiting is slim, but I notice that the tailoring is moving towards the more feminine, with broader shoulders, shorter jackets, and occasionally less waisting.

This casual men’s coverall is perfect for that business casual oil change. C’mon Topshop no one but the most secure men (or those, the very pinnacle of masculinity, ironically, gay black men) can pull that off.

My retraction is such that I must even say that it is certainly not cheap at Topshop, what with the strong pound walloping the dollar. Nonetheless, Topshop could provide the commoner with items previously out of reach. We shall see. Ninja vanish!

Dood man this beer cost me $14.

Good evening, reader.

Topshop, the latest in the battle to take to the low-to-moderately priced fashion no man’s land, opened up this week in the Apple. I’m all down for stores that sell colorful t-shirts for less than double digits and feature celebrity designers of dubious taste and skill. But more than anything the opening looked like fun, a sort of mixture of a NYU hipster party, Entertainment Weekly b-reel showcase, and whole slew of folks of whom I have no idea.

And one guy I had an idea.

GREETINGS REAder.

As a huge fan those with names that have funky vowels, I’m was excited to see Chloë Sevigny designing for that overpriced, undervalued boutique Opening Ceremony.  Unfortunately, the results were less than arousing.

Nice pants, chap.  I believe they are too legit to quit.

But the throwbacks weren’t limited to music.  Classic films were also a source of inspiration.

Freddy would be proud.

Overall the entire take was rather underwhelming.  We’ve seen all of these looks before.  More importantly, we’ve seen these looks for way, way cheaper.  There’s really nothing wrong with having expensive versions of cheap clothes, hell American Apparel has it in their mission statement.  But at this stage in the game, we really should be seeing something new, rather than the same thing.

I just liked his moustache.
