I was screwing around the internet as I tend to, and happened upon the above image of a work by Charles Ledray.
His “workworkworkworkwork” series is on exhibition at the Whitney until February 13th. You know I feel about “work” and apparently Ledray was concerned with it way before anyone at Levi’s was. According to the Whitney website:
“The “work” in LeDray’s repetitious title can function as either a noun or verb, reflecting the vast amount of objects, the lengthy and laborious task of creating them, or the basic need to labor in order to survive.”
I’m feelin’ those suspenders, Ledy. Also really like the tonal story going on here. Look forward to seeing this next time in Park Slope.
