Brooks Brothers got their preppy asses together and their newly launched blog was working as of last night. If you’re too lazy to visit it (clicking is hard work), then you’re in luck because I did a little review of it. No clicking required, but some very light scrolling will be.
First let’s note the name and style. “Of Rogues and Gentleman” fully employs the three main rules of naming a menswear blog:
1) Have a cute reference to how irreverent you are.
2) Use the word “gentleman” or “wardrobe”.
3) Sound like the name was part of a longer sentence written in the 19th century. In this case, I will posit:
“The pirates made away with the Majority of the Ship’s hold, but left Us at least some biscuits and honor intact and in that Way proved Themselves to be…of rogues and gentlemen.”
-Richard Dunninghaminshire, Captain of The Majestic, 1862
Otherwise the main impression I have is brown. There is some swirly accenting to lend itself more to the Ye Olde Blog school of web design.
But that’s not all. R&G was also careful to hit all of the major retail menswear blog features.
Between the arbitrary style “commandments” and the wood paneling, it’s like driving the Oldsmobile station wagon of blogs.

Brooks Brothers' new car blog drops in Q4.
But you have to admit that the blog will probably be widely followed, if anything because of sheer notoriety. Walmart has almost a trillion Facebook fans, after all. So whoever is linked in the blogroll are certainly the recognized leaders of the menswear blogosphere.

Yep, that picture is totally legit.
You are the funniest and I love you.
